Haiku Friday

Haiku Friday

Once in my lifetime

I did not believe in me

Now I know my strength

The inner lies try

to control my energy

but they don’t succeed

It is not too late

It is just now the right time

It is my moment

From Jennifer Louden’s Self Care Minder (which I highly recommend! Jennifer has given me so much freedom to pursue my creative self)

COMFORT WISHES

You begin because you read Rilke’s lines, “You are not dead yet, it’s not too late/to open your depths by plunging into them/and drink in the life that reveals itself quietly there.”

You read these lines and your depths stir and grunt like an old man getting out of bed in the morning: there is hope!

In the same instance, your monkey mind whines, “There is nothing to plunge into because you are empty, blank, scoured out. You are a list maker, an email answerer, a Crackberry fiddler, a carpool driver, a rusher, a summer planner vacation camp scheduler, a deal maker, a paycheck winner, a counter wiper, a butt wiper but a depth plunger, a drinker of life? I think not.”

The monkey mind loves to hector, “Too late, too late. No point, no point. Nothing in there, nothing in there.” But the monkey mind is a liar. Sometimes a very convincing liar but a liar never the less.

Today I beg you to know that
your depths are illimitable, infinite
teeming with life like the Artic sea in summer
expanding ever higher like the Himalayans
luminous with mystery like the mind’s eye of God

Yep, that’s you.
Yep, right now.
